The next generation of websites are 3D-first and making them on Fabrik is a whole lot of fun.

Other Cool Stuff

New form factors, new possibilities

To be able to run a rich 3D experience on the browser is one thing, but to do that in style on a smartwatch is quite another! And we are especially proud of this. There's no access to browsers on smartwatches, and for a good reason - traditional content and interactions do not work. Reading and scrolling on smartphones is bad enough, but smartwatches unlock a whole new level of un-usability.

Business-as-usual approach doesn't work for smartwatches, augmented reality, and virtual reality form factors, but it opens opportunities for novel experiences. The new form factors are gestures-first, immersive and auditory experiences, not touch-based text and videos. There's a need to use the dimension of depth to create engage users meaningfully.

And Fabrik's software architecture is robust to support new gestures and scales for new generation of devices as well as supports existing devices - the absolute best of both worlds.

Constantly getting more performance from hardware

Fabrik uses on-device GPU and RAM by running byte-sized matrix multiplications to render content reducing the compute footprints. By standing on the shoulders of giants in the open source communities, we have been able to run BIMs, optical recognition algorithms, and segmentation inference algorithms for some of the hard-to-solve vision problems.

In addition, we are constantly looking to go closer to the hardware to reduce the load of compilation and improve overall performance. And as wearables become mainstream, our ability to render continues to improve with lower compute, storage, bandwidth, and power footprint.

An exercise in pushing boundaries

At the intersection of performance, browser, and some crazy ideas, we've implemented a lot of fun stuff for customers over the years.

  1. BIM on iPads, to remove the need for stakeholders converging to a conference room to conduct design reviews. Today, this is a challenge in the construction sector with leadership, architects, interior design/landscaping teams carrying workstations to setup demos for approvals. We remove 90% of time spent by running 3D on iPads that leaders can access and share feedback - like startups with hybrid workforce do effectively.
  2. Making hydrology maps accessible, by combining Digital Elevation Maps (DEM) with hydrology maps and thin compute, we get a functional map to assess the likelihood of urban flooding. Urban municipal authorities take proactive action to deploy resources adequately to ensure infrastructure is capable of handling large downpours.
  3. No walled gardens, the one thing we strongly believe is staying independent of ecosystems - Apple, Android, Meta, and Windows. We consciously made a choice to stay on web browsers, the most common app used around the world, and run Fabrik successfully in all gardens without customisation challenges. This makes us free from vagaries of ecosystems, and at the same time work with all of them to improve the user's experience as they transition to the world of spatial computing.
